Hey everyone! My name is Helen, and it is so nice to meet you all! I will be co-leading the NYC - HIV/ AIDS experience with Kelly this year! I am currently a senior who is double majoring in neurobiology & physiology and biochemistry and minoring in education. I am from Olney, Maryland located right in Montgomery County. I am interested pursuing a career in medicine, specifically something in the pediatric field (because I love working with kids!). In my spare time, I watch TV shows like Modern Family, Bones, and Sherlock. I also enjoy volunteering in multiple organizations such as Health Leads, CMNS Peer Mentors, etc. I am excited about the alternative break trip to NYC, NY, because it allows us as students to make a hands-on difference in the lives of numerous HIV/ AIDS patients while also dispelling social stigmas surrounding this unique group of people. One interesting fact about me is that I grew up in the Philippines for 4 years before I started kindergarten here in the states. Looking forward to this exciting journey with you all!! :)
